Conor McGregor pledges to run for Ireland president after backing Donald Trump
Conor McGregor could be in store for a drastic career change if his plans come to fruition.
Conor McGregor has outlined his plans to run for the Ireland Presidency in 2025. The loud-mouthed MMA fighter believes he is the 'only logical choice' to take over from Michael D. Higgins, who is expected to call an election next October.
McGregor has already endorsed Donald Trump's presidential campaign in the USA but it appears as though the Irishman has political ambitions of his own, despite having no prior experience in the field.

In a surreal X post on Thursday, McGregor wrote: "As President I hold the power to summon the Dáil (Ireland's government) as well as dissolve it. So as I said before, I would have all the answers the people of Ireland seek from these thieves of the working man, these disrupters of the family unit, these destructors of small businesses, and on and on and on!
"These charlatans in their positions of power would be summoned to answer to the people of Ireland and I would have it done by day end. Or I would be left with no choice but to dissolve the Dáil entirely. Stop the train until.
"The people of Ireland deserve the answers they seek. Point blank. This would be my power as President. I know very well. Ireland needs an active President employed wholly by the people of Ireland. It is me. I am the only logical choice. 2025 is upcoming…"
One high-profile individual to offer McGregor early support is Andrew Tate - the controversial figure who previously spent time under house arrest in Romania.
"My grandfather is from Limerick," wrote Tate in response to McGregor. "I have the Irish passport. I will vote for you. We must do something before it’s too late."

McGregor, who was born in Dublin in 1988, has not fought in the UFC since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021 but he claims to plan on returning to the octagon before the end of the year - unless his new-found political ambitions prompt a rethink.
The 36-year-old is believed to be worth over £150million, with the sale of his stake in the Proper Twelve whiskey brand three years ago earning him a nine-figure fee. McGregor made his acting debut in the film 'Road House' earlier this year and is understood to split his time between luxurious pads in Marbella, Ireland and Las Vegas.
