LeBron James DEFENDS Anthony Davis trade request on The Shop, drops Lakers hint
LEBRON JAMES has jumped to the defence of Anthony Davis following the backlash from his trade request.
NBA: LeBron James SLAMMED for role in loss to Grizzlies
It was revealed last week that Davis would be appearing on the next episode of LeBron James’ HBO show ’The Shop’, set to premiere later today.
The announcement drew some raised eyebrows at seeing a player, who the Lakers openly tried to trade for, now sitting down with his potentially future team-mate in a TV special.
Both players are represented by Klutch Sports, along with Ben Simmons who also recorded an episode of ‘The Shop’ with James earlier in the season.
Fans began speculating on what the two would be speaking about on the episode, and HBO have provided a little snippet of what to expect.
NFL star Antonio Brown was speaking about how the Steelers organisation were trying to label him as a “distraction” in recent weeks.
And James jumped in to essentially agree with Brown’s assessment, while comparing it with Davis and his trade request he handed in with the Pelicans.
“AD’s been in the league seven years, nobody's ever said anything,” he said on The Shop.
“No media, not a fan, not a friend, not nobody has ever said anything negative about AD.
"But you can tell when the narrative changed when you don't do what they want you to do."
The Lakers seemingly were the only team in negotiation with the Pelicans regarding a trade for Davis at the deadline.
But New Orleans were not thrilled by any trade offer presented to them, opting to wait until the summer.
For Davis though, it has created an awkward situation for him where he has publicly declared he doesn’t want to be in New Orleans yet he is still being played for the remainder of the season.
The Lakers are likely to try again in the summer, but teams such as the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks could potentially enter the mix.
