Man Utd news: Paul Pogba can STOP Liverpool winning the Premier League - Moreno
MANCHESTER UNITED star Paul Pogba can have a big say in who wins the Premier League title for the upcoming season.
World Cup: Paul Pogba gives motivational speech before final
That is according to ESPN FC pundit and former Major League Soccer star Alejandro Moreno.
Manchester United are third favourites with the bookies to land the title for the first time since 2013.
Defending champions Manchester City are favourites, with Liverpool second in the running.
Liverpool have splashed the cash this summer on four new players to help their cause.
If they get the version of Paul Pogba that we saw in the World Cup, I think Manchester United should be right behind Manchester City
Moreno has been impressed with their business, especially the world-record acquisition of Brazil goalkeeper Alisson.
But he believes if Pogba performs for United like he did at the World Cup with France, then the Red Devils will be challenging City, not Liverpool.
“Do not underestimate the important of having a good goalkeeper you can trust and how he makes you better, not only because he can make the saves, but because of the confidence of the guys playing in front of him,” Moreno said of Alisson.
“So I think that makes a huge difference for the way that Liverpool defensively.
“However, I still trust that Manchester United, if they get the version of Paul Pogba that we saw in the World Cup, if we get that for Manchester United, I think Manchester United should be right behind Manchester City.
“I just think Manchester United and Jose Mourinho, whether we criticise him, dislike him, or not appreciate the way that he sets his teams up, in games in which he needs to get results, more times than not he comes up with what he needs and what the team needs.
“Liverpool, I’m not so sure they’re going to be able to do that.”
