Man Utd transfer news: Ed Woodward prepares to launch Willian bid after new development
MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing to step up their bid for Willian following Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup.
Willian is one of Jose Mourinho’s top transfer targets for the summer and he believes he can land him.
Manchester United hope to wrap the deal up before the transfer window closes in the first week of August and are expected to make a £60m bid in the coming days, according to the Sun.
United are keen on a new forward after Mourinho lost faith in Anthony Martial.
Willian is the most realistic signing in that area with Gareth Bale’s future at Real Madrid still uncertain and Cristiano Ronaldo closing in on a move to Juventus.
Mourinho is a big fan of Willian after working with him at Chelsea.
The Brazil ace fell out with Antonio Conte last year and even posted an FA Cup celebration message with the manger blanked out.
Conte looks set to leave Chelsea this summer but Willian is still believed to be keen on leaving.
Barcelona are also in the hunt but Chelsea lead the race and are expected to firm up their offer shortly.
Chelsea star Willian shows off serious class for Brazil
United have already made three signings this summer with the acquisitions of Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant.
And Mourinho is still keen on a forward, a centre-back and a full-back.
He was keen on signing another midfielder but Marouane Fellaini’s new deal means that area is no longer a priority.
