MARK HUGHES has played down rumours linking Stoke with a move for Manchester United defender Luke Shaw.

Shaw's Manchester United career has been the subject of debate in recent weeks, with Jose Mourinho publicly criticising the England left-back.
Stoke are said to be interested in signing the 21-year-old, along with Premier League rivals Everton and Tottenham.
Spurs have been installed as the bookmakers' favourites, with manager Mauricio Pochettino having worked with him at Southampton.

But Stoke boss Hughes is confident Shaw is out of the Potters' reach.
When asked about the speculation, Hughes said: “You look at all good players, but that's not one that's realistic for us, to be honest."
Shaw came off the bench in United's 1-1 draw with Everton on Tuesday in what was only his second Premier League outing since October.
And Mourinho urged Shaw to grow up after the Old Trafford clash, claiming he was making every decision for him on the touchline.
Jose Mourinho has publicly criticised Luke Shaw this season
"He was in front of me and I was making every decision for him," said the Red Devils boss. "He has to change his football brain.
"We need his fantastic physical and technical qualities but he cannot play with my brain.
"He must accelerate the process. Twenty-one is old enough to have a better understanding. He has a future here but Manchester United cannot wait."
