Chelsea are ready to pull the plug on their attempts to land Everton star John Stones.
The Blues tried to sign the 21-year-old four times last summer as a ling ted replacement for John Terry, but had an offer of £37million rejected.
Express Sport understands Chelsea were preparing another bid of around £40m to bring Stones to Stones to Stamford Bridge this summer.

And the Sun claim the Spaniard was offered a way out of Chelsea with Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning offering him a mammoth £200,000-a-week contract after tax - gazumping his current £150,000-a-week wages.
However, it is understood the Spaniard snubbed their advances as he wants to stay at Chelsea for next season's title challenge under incoming boss Conte.
