Chelsea sweat over transfer: Euro club to offer improved terms on £3.1m deal
CHELSEA'S long-running pursuit of Roma star Miralem Pjanic could end in failure as the Serie A club propose fresh contract talks with their midfielder.
Chelsea's hopes of signing Miralem Pjanic look increasingly slim
The Blues have been linked with Pjanic, 26, for weeks and incoming manager Antonio Conte is said to be keen on his arrival.
Conte, who will take over at Stamford Bridge after Euro 2016, is seeking new recruits ahead of next season.
According to the report, Roma bosses are crunching the numbers to work out how to increase Pjanic's wages and convince him to stay at the club.
Pjanic currently earns £3.1m a season at Roma, roughly £60,000 a week.
That puts his current contract on a par with what second-choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic picks up at Stamford Bridge.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international could even demand a greater pay rise if his transfer value rises after Euro 2016.
But Chelsea may not be willing to go higher for the former Lyon star, especially as they also pursue his team-mate Radja Nainggolan.
