Manchester United struggle to secure transfer target despite secret talks
MANCHESTER UNITED face an uphill battle to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer despite reportedly opening talks with the striker's representatives.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly valued at £60m
United are understood to have zoned in on Aubameyang as they seek forward recruits of the new season.
The Gabon international has emerged as one of the hottest strikers in European football and boasts 22 goals in the Bundesliga alone this campaign.
Arsenal are also understood to want the player but have been put off by Dortmund's £60million valuation.
“I've said to myself, 'Why go back to France when I left that league three years ago? Why not discover something new?'
"Like I've said before, I'd love to play in Spain and to finally enjoy a bit of good weather.”
Real sit third in La Liga, 12 points ahead of fourth-place Villarreal with just eight games remaining.
United, meanwhile, are competing with West Ham and Manchester City for the fourth spot in the Premier League and are just a point off the pace.
