According to the reports, Bale will be offered a new contract stretching to 2021 that will be worth £78million over its duration.
Spain's highest income tax band is currently 45 per cent, meaning Bale will take home £42.9m net over the next five years.
The pay rise would put him in line with Rooney's £300,000-a-week terms at United that the England international signed in February 2014.
Gareth Bale - Spotlight On
United were reportedly hoping to link Bale and Rooney up at Old Trafford next season.
Bale has endured a mixed time of it in Spain. He won the Champions League in his first season following an £86million transfer from Tottenham.
But Real fans turned on him last term during a barren goals period and calf injuries this campaign have not helped his cause.
Bale has hit form since Christmas, however, and boasts seven goals in 2016 already, despite a fresh injury that ruled him out for all of February.
