And with a New Year's Day game against Stoke still to come Mata believes that having his family over from Spain is just what he needs to get through.
Whilst Mata won't get a chance to enjoy New Year's Eve with his family, the former Chelsea man says he will uphold the Spanish tradition of eating a grape with each strike of the clock at midnight.
He wrote in his blog: "As I told you before my family is here these days, and I love that.
