Spurs close to completing deal for Barcelona forward David Villa
SPURS are on the cusp of a sealing a deal for David Villa after broadly reaching an agreement over personal terms for the Barcelona forward.
Although Spurs looked to have been dealt a blow last week, after being informed by Barcelona's president Sandro Rossell that the forward wasn't leaving, that hasn't deterred them.
Such is Spurs' interest, that Andre Villas-Boas is thought to have held an informal discussion over a move on the phone.
Having already reached an agreement over a £17m deal for Paulinho, Spurs are desperate to add to their attacking line-up.
Reports have surfaced indicating that Spurs are ready to pay around £8m for Spain's all-time leading scorer.
Villa, who has admitted his desire to come to the Premier League, has already shelved talks on his future until after the Confederations cup finishes.
Arsenal, who were chasing Villa throughout the January transfer window, have officially dropped their interest in the 31-year-old.
