Richie Brittain row hots up between St Johnstone and Ross County
MIDFIELDER Richie Brittain could find his career in limbo after it emerged that both St Johnstone and Ross County plan to register him for next season.
Richie Brittain has placed himself in a tricky situation
The Staggies captain signed a pre-contract agreement with the Perth club in January but then had a change of heart.
Brittain wants Saints to rip up the document and it is understood County believe they can use the SFA rulebook to support the player’s case to stay in the Highlands.
We’ve no intention of backing down and expect him to join up with the squad for pre-season
Saints chief Steve Brown
However, Saints are adamant that under SPL rules Brittain is their man for the next two seasons, and now the 29-year-old, right, could be left kicking his heels until the bureaucrats come to a verdict.
Rival chairmen Steve Brown and Roy MacGregor held talks at Hampden yesterday but failed to reach agreement.
Saints chief Brown said: “I’ve spoken to Roy and the player but nothing has changed.
“We’ve no intention of backing down and expect him to join up with the squad for pre-season.”
