Manchester United chairman Ed Woodward says club don't need "major retooling" in summer
MANCHESTER UNITED vice-chairman Ed Woodward has dispelled suggestions the club will embark on a summer spending spree.
Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to do his summer transfer business early doors so that he can steal a march on Manchester City, who also have grandiose plans themselves.
United have been inextricably linked with Robert Lewandowski and a return for Cristiano Ronaldo, who could cost in the region of £65m.
Moreover, United published an excellent third quarterly set of financial results yesterday which showed the club posted revenues of £91m in the three months to March 31 and had cut their swelling debt levels too.
However, Woodward firmly believes United don't need a "major retooling" in the summer.
He said: "I wouldn't expect there to be a major retooling of the squad.
"There is incredible depth. We could put two first teams out with 11 internationals in each.
"It has been a phenomenal season. We are a long way ahead in the Premier League and whilst I wouldn't describe the way we got knocked out of the Champions League as luck things could have gone differently in that game.
