Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a £30million swoop for Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson, who put in a strong performance against the Red Devils on their opening match of the Premier League season.

Injury woes have plagued both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia throughout their United careers, with neither defender available for Erik ten Hag for the opening three games of the campaign.

The Sun claim that United are lining up a move for Robinson after a strong start to the season under Marco Silva, having claimed two assists in Fulham’s opening three games and becoming one of the top-flight’s strongest left-backs.

A move early in the January window has been mooted, but only on the condition that United are able to raise the necessary funds, with Robinson’s ability and athleticism thought to be two reasons why they hope to bring him to Old Trafford.

Fulham do not want to lose Robinson but won’t stand in his way if an offer arrives that meets their valuation, thought to be in the region of £30m. A move to a big club in the north-west is also thought to appeal to the 27-year-old.

Robinson has previously been the subject of interest from Manchester City, Inter and AC Milan over a £35m move, but he remained at Craven Cottage and continued to impress in England.

He would arrive as competition for Shaw, who missed the second half of last season and picked up another calf injury during pre-season after competing at Euro 2024 with England, forcing him to miss the first few games of the campaign.

Malacia missed the entirety of 2023/24 and continues to be absent, with Diogo Dalot largely deputising at left-back following Noussair Mazraoui’s arrival this summer from Bayern Munich.

Shaw is expected to return to first-team training after the international break but his United career has been dogged by fitness issues and Robinson presents a long-term solution, with Premier League experience.

Robinson only signed a new contract with the Whites last summer and Fulham have proven to be tough negotiators in the past. They already locked horns with United over Scott McTominay as the two clubs were unable to agree upon a fee for the midfielder, before he sealed a £25m switch to Napoli.

Joao Palhinha was the subject of interest from a host of top English clubs and Bayern, with Fulham proving that they would not be bullied in the transfer window and forced the Bundesliga giants to wait a year before their £47.4m asking price was finally met.

They appear to be more open to Robinson’s exit, despite his strong start to the season, but are unlikely to engage in low-ball offers and United still need to raise funds to get a deal over the line.
