The summer transfer window has kicked into gear over the past few days, with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Everton all completing early business before the upcoming accountancy deadline for the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules on June 30. Other top sides are also expected to dip into the market imminently, with spending sprees planned up and down the country.
Manchester United are hoping to welcome new arrivals at both ends of the pitch, with Joshua Zirkzee shortlisted as a leading candidate to lead the line at Old Trafford next season and Jarrad Branthwaite identified as the club’s top defensive target.
Arsenal are also keen to bolster their ranks, with Mikel Arteta’s side appearing to be assessing several options who have release clauses in their respective contracts, such as Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
Chelsea have confirmed to Barcelona they plan to activate youngster Marc Guiu's release clause.
Guiu, 18, has made seven first-team appearances for the Catalan giants and scored twice.
The Spain under-19 international will cost a nominal fee of £5million.

According to the BBC, the Blues are ready to sell the 21-year-old but Maresca knows Casadei well after a loan stint at Leicester.
The Italian player is reportedly keen to fight for his place at Chelsea but will sit down with Maresca first before coming to a decision on whether he wants to stay or not.
United see opening bid for Manuel Ugarte 'rejected'
Manchester United have reportedly already seen an opening bid for Manuel Ugarte rejected.
The midfielder has emerged as one of the Red Devils’ top targets in midfield this summer, and L’Equipe claim that PSG have already knocked back an offer from Erik ten Hag’s side.
Negotiations are not ‘closed’ between the two clubs though, despite the opening bid being deemed ‘insufficient’.
Another Premier League side are also in the race to sign Ugarte, who is unsure whether his future lies away from the Parc des Princes.
The Uruguay international was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea last summer but opted to head to the Ligue 1 champions instead.
The move has not been the biggest of successes though and United are hopeful of pouncing on the situation to secure the signature of the ex-Sporting star, having made signing a midfielder one of their priorities this summer.
West Ham have now joined the race to sign Lille’s Jonathan David, reports Sky Sports Germany.
The forward has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks but the Hammers have now emerged as one of the front runners to secure his signature as they are 'strongly interested'.
Manchester United are also in the frame, with £20million expected to be enough to lure him away from the Ligue 1.
West Ham slap £150m price tag on Jarrod Bowen amid rival interest
Tottenham have been quoted £150million for Jarrod Bowen by West Ham, reports HITC.
The England international impressed once more last season and his performances has seen him linked with the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle.
Tottenham are also said to be among Bowen’s admirers and the north London outfit have made contact with their rivals over a potential deal.
However, West Ham knocked back the enquiry from Spurs as they believe the ex-Hull City star is worth upwards of £150m, which is not within the realms of Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Everton have announced that Ashley Young, 38, has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The versatile defender made 31 Premier League appearances for the Toffees last season and has insisted that remaining at the club was a ‘no-brainer’.
He said: “ I loved my time here last season. We had ups and downs but I can see how big the Club is and where the Club wants to get to. I want to be a part of that.”

Wolves have rejected a second offer from West Ham for Max Kilman, reports Fabrizio Romano.
Newly-appointed Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui is keen to reunite with the defender at the London Stadium this summer and has identified the centre-back as a top target.
However, Wolves are not keen to part ways with their skipper cheaply.
Gary O’Neil’s side have rejected a second offer from West Ham for the defender, which was a player-plus-cash bid. A third bid is expected to be lodged soon.
Barcelona have reportedly opened talks with Hull City over Jadon Philogene.
The winger impressed in the Championship last season, scoring 12 goals and assisting six in 32 appearances.
The England Under-21 caught the eye of several top clubs as a result, with Matteo Moretto reporting that Barca have opened talks to secure his signature.
Contacts between the club are already underway, with Barca pushing to strike a deal as soon as possible.
Chelsea have opted to cool their interest in Aston Villa star Jhon Duran, reports The Athletic.
Enzo Maresca is keen to acquire the services of two forwards this summer, with several options being explored.
Duran is among those to have been shortlisted as a target, though the Blues have opted to ‘cool’ that interest.
Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion is also admired by the Stamford Bridge outfit, though other options are now being explored after Chelsea saw their opening bid of £27million rejected.
The 23-year-old impressed in his debut season with the Hammers, and he could leave the club after just 12 months as it has emerged that he has a £85m release clause in his current deal.
There were claims previously that the clause would become active next summer, though those suggestions have now been played down.

Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Stuttgart’s wantaway star Serhou Guirassy.
Borussia Dortmund have been leading the race to acquire the services of the striker in recent weeks, but Sky Sports Germany report that the Gunners are also informed of his situation.
Guirassy has a £20million release clause in his current contract and no side has opted to activate it yet, though Dortmund are ‘fearful’ of Arsenal’s recent emergence.
The 19-year-old is admired by top clubs around Europe and has a £20million release clause in his contract.
Chelsea recently tabled an official offer of £14m for the defender, which Boca are heavily considering. However, the Argentine outfit are biding their time as they expect United to arrive with an offer of their own soon and feel that there is a ‘concrete chance’ of a fresh bid arriving.

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to activate Nico Williams’ £49million release clause.
The Athletic Bilbao star has impressed at Euro 2024 recently, and his performances have seen him linked with a move to the Premier League as a result.
According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are ‘ready’ to activate Williams’ release clause and are advancing in the race to secure his signature.
Chelsea are also keen on the Spain international, though they have their doubts over the finances involved in striking an agreement with the player.
