Two Scotland supporters reportedly saw their umbrella confiscated from them ahead of the Euro 2024 clash between Georgia and Turkey on Tuesday night.

Authorities have ensured that there is an incredibly high level of security and policing at each match of the tournament to ensure that trouble does not break out between supporters and that other threats are minimised.

Despite the immense rain in Dortmund ahead of the Group F clash between Turkey and Georgia, there does not appear to be any exceptions being made by those around the grounds.

According to The Independent, a man and his 75-year-old father saw their umbrella confiscated at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night because the tip was deemed ‘too long’ and therefore ‘dangerous’.

A member of staff at the ground then went on to say that the ‘fault’ lay with the son, despite the significant downpour which prompted speculation that the match may need to be called off due to the wet conditions.

The match ultimately went ahead though, and it produced what is likely to be one of the matches of the entire tournament, with Turkey winning 3-1 to kickstart their tournament in good style.

Mert Muldur opened the scoring for Turkey in the 25th minute with a sensational volley, smashing his strike into the top corner after a cross was cleared into his path on the edge of the penalty area.

Kenan Yildiz thought that he had doubled his side’s lead just moments later, but VAR intervened to rule that the Juventus forward was marginally offside when converting from close range.

Georgia then hit back through Goerges Mikautadze, who impressed out on loan at Metz last season from Ajax. The 23-year-old steered his effort beneath Mert Gunok and into the back of the net after some excellent work from Giorgi Kochorashvili down the right.

Real Madrid playmaker Arda Guler then showcased why he is one of the most exciting talents in Europe with a beautiful goal in the 65th minute, bending a fine effort into the top corner from outside of the penalty area.

Georgia pushed valiantly for an equaliser but paid the price for pushing numbers forward in the dying embers of the clash. After goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was instructed to get into the penalty area for a corner, the ball broke to Turkish substitute Kerem Akturkoglu, who raced the length of the pitch and tapped into an empty net.
