Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp blasted the referee's decision not to award his side a late penalty in their 1-1 draw with Manchester City. VAR looked at what he deemed a foul by Jeremy Doku on Alexis Mac Allister in the final few moments of the thriller, but opted against giving a spot-kick.
But with Liverpool piling on late pressure, they were incensed when Doku raised his foot high into the air to clear a corner. He made contact with the ball but also connected with Mac Allister and left the Argentine in a heap on the floor.
“It’s a penalty for all football people on the planet," Klopp told Sky, before querying whether interviewer Patrick Davidson thought that a foul should have been given.

Klopp turned the question on the Sky reporter by asking: "Would you have given a penalty?" To which he responded: “You do like putting me on the spot! But I will answer it - I’m not surprised VAR didn’t overturn it.”
The head coach then sought more clarity and said: “Because of the wrong reasons or something else?” And Davison replied: “Because of the high bar with the off-field official not wanting to re-referee the match.”
Klopp then continued: “Isn’t it there to make the right decision and not thinking about how high the bar is to overturn the decision?"

He then continued to vent over the decision as Liverpool could have moved top of the Premier League table if a penalty had been successfully converted, with Klopp claiming that those around him were convinced that VAR would call the on-field official to the pitchside monitor.
"It was 100 per cent a penalty," Klopp continued. "They will find an explanation. It was 100% foul in all areas of the pitch and probably a yellow card. All the people with iPads around me were 'wow, clear'. Maybe they can hide behind the phrase it is not clear and obvious.
"It is of course a penalty but we didn't get it and that is fine. The most important thing for me is that we can play football like that. I saw so many sensational performances today."
The 23/24 home shirt for Liverpool pays homage to the past of the club, as well as collaborator Nike, with a strong 1970s influence. The iconic red, capped with bold white cuffs and collar really does invoke that classic Liverpool FC style while adding a cool retro touch
