Five goals and five assists in 21 league appearances for the 22-year-old has prompted more interest than when United attempted to offload him in 2023. Getafe were one of very few teams willing to take him on temporarily with a loan deal until the end of the season, though despite a new regime at Old Trafford spearheaded by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s position on Greenwood's future has not changed.
United want to sell Greenwood, especially as a permanent transfer could help curb their Financial Fair Play concerns considerably. As an academy product, the forward represents 100 per cent profit and German outlet fussball.news claim that the Red Devils want £34m for Greenwood to prevent an 'economic total loss'.
This summer represents United’s final opportunity to receive a sizable fee for Greenwood as he is out of contract in 2025. Getafe would like to keep him beyond their loan spell but are unable to match his reported £75,000-a-week salary.

"Greenwood is a different player, with a lot of talent but in this football talent is not the main thing. It takes more work than talent. When he is at 100 per cent we will be able to check his real level but he has the conditions to play in any major," Getafe boss Jose Bordalas said in December.
"Being able to opt for a player of this level at Getafe is complicated, almost impossible. And well, given the situation, we bet on him. We are happy and content because we have a great player, he is a good boy, he has fitted in really well and he just needs to learn a little more Spanish."
Barcelona and Atletico have a better chance of meeting United’s asking price but it remains to be seen whether they feel that £34m is an appropriate valuation for Greenwood.
The Catalan giants especially have had their own financial issues and there will be a new manager at the helm with Xavi departing at the end of the season.
United issued a statement confirming that Greenwood's time at Old Trafford had come to an end last summer. Despite Ratcliffe now overseeing the sporting side of the club, that position does not appear to have changed and a permanent exit is looming.
