Premier League clubs are still catching their breath after a gripping weekend of on-field action, but they can't rest up for long. The congested fixture list between now and the New Year is only just getting started and teams have less than a month before the January transfer window swings open.
Squad depth will be pushed to its limits over the coming weeks, which could encourage emergency signings in the winter. Tottenham, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been operating without many of their key players, giving their respective managers a decision to make.
Financial Fair Play limitations may also play their part, with Arsenal and the Red Devils among those rumoured to have pushed their spending to the brink during the summer.

Chelsea are among a wave of European giants keeping tabs on Copenhagen teenager Roony Bardghji, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 18-year-old is inside the final two years of his contract in Denmark, opening up a possible opportunity for the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Barcelona and the Blues, who are all thought to be keen.
Bardghji, from Sweden, scored the winner in a 4-3 victory over Manchester United last month.
Brentford have responded to transfer interest in Ivan Toney by scheduling contract talks with Bryan Mbeumo, according to TEAMtalk.
Mbeumo has scored six Premier League goals and notched three assists this season in the absence of Toney, who is serving a ban for breaching the FA's betting rules.
And Bees manager Thomas Frank is desperate to tie the 24-year-old down to renewed terms.
Arsenal and Chelsea are both in the hunt for Toney, who could move in January if Brentford's £80million asking price is met.

Arsenal have already held discussions with AC Milan over a potential January exit for Jakub Kiwior, according to Calciomercato.
The Serie A giants are determined to sign the defender but Mikel Arteta has not yet been convinced to let him leave.
Milan want two defenders in the January window and Kiwior is their top target.
The report says Milan have been working 'intensely' in the last few days as they try to sign him on loan with an option to buy. Arsenal are said to be resistant to letting Kiwior leave but Milan will continue to discuss the possibility of landing the versatile star.
Newcastle United are reportingly weighing up a move for free agent David de Gea, with current goalkeeper Nick Pope facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Pope came off during Saturday's win over Manchester United with a shoulder injury, and concerningly for the Magpies, his most-likely next step is to undergo surgery.
According to The Daily Mail, bringing in De Gea is one of the options under consideration by senior figures at St James' Park.
The Spaniard has been a free agent since leaving Man Utd at the end of last season. He was due to sign a new contract at Old Trafford before the club pulled the plug on his proposed deal and offered him significantly reduced wages instead.
Liverpool and Barcelona legend Luis Suarez is now a free agent after leaving Brazilian side Gremio, and the Uruguayan has hinted that retirement could be on the cards.
Suarez will turn 37 next month, nearly two decades after making his professional debut with Nacional.
"I can feel pain, my body is speaking for me," said the striker. "I want to enjoy and then decide for myself after a long career.
"I need to rest, enjoy my family… then the destiny will know where I’ll be in the future."
Manchester United have reportedly made a call on the futures of Antony, Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount.
The trio have struggled for form and regular game time so far this season, but manager Erik ten Hag has no plans to send them elsewhere in the January transfer window.
Despite their shortfalls, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that there are no plans to send them elsewhere in January. Instead, senior figures at Old Trafford are prepared to be patient while they find their feet.
Marseille have emerged as candidates to sign Manchester United's out-of-favour defender Raphael Varane this January, according to reports in France.
The centre-back has started only four Premier League matches this campaign and his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag is said to have deteriorated.
Marseille boss Gennaro Gattuso and sporting director Medhi Benatia are reportedly putting plans in place to offer the 30-year-old a way out.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was dealt a crushing blow during Sunday's win over Fulham, revealing that Joel Matip would be ruled out for the foreseeable with a long-term knee injury.
Luckily for the Reds, they have already scouted out a possible replacement.
According to The Daily Star, £20million-rated Lucas Beraldo is the subject of 'strong interest' from Anfield. West Ham, Newcastle and Brentford are also believed to be keen on the Sao Paulo star.

Manchester United have placed Jean-Clair Todibo and Antonio Silva on their centre-back hit list, according to Sky Germany.
