Mauricio Pochettino previews Chelsea's clash with Nottingham Forest
Chelsea have been handed a transfer deadline day blow as their potential £50million sale of Trevoh Chalobah to Bayern Munich has collapsed. The Blues have been eager to offload some academy products after a huge spending spree under co-owner Todd Boehly, but have been forced to find another suitor if they wish to part ways with the defender before Friday's 11.00pm cut-off.
Fabrizio Romano claimed that a deal taking Chalobah to the Bundesliga champions had fallen through completely, with Thomas Tuchel's side having looked to complete a move for Southampton's Armel Bella Kotchap instead - though that deal remains in doubt after Sky Germany said that Bayern's proposed signing of Fulham star Joao Palhinha has also been cancelled, having failed to beat their deadline.
Bayern were unable to reach an agreement with Chelsea over a fee and structure of the deal, with reports suggesting that a loan move had been an option but with the German window shutting at 5.00pm, they were unable to reach a compromise in time.
Chalobah was keen on a move to Bayern to link up with Tuchel once again according to reports, but he will be denied that switch despite failing to appear in any of the Blues' opening three Premier League games under Mauricio Pochettino.

Having been deemed surplus to requirements with Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and when fit Wesley Fofana competing for centre-back positions, Chalobah also retains interest within the Premier League and a transfer may still materialise.
Nottingham Forest have resubmitted a £25m bid that they made earlier in the summer for the 24-year-old according to The Telegraph, but Chalobah was reluctant to join Steve Cooper's outfit while there was a possibility of moving to Bayern.

While Chalobah is one of several players that could leave, Conor Gallagher has been the subject of negotiations with Tottenham and Ian Maatsen has turned down the opportunity to return to Burnley on loan with an obligation to buy for £30m.
Marc Cucurella could still depart despite his Manchester United loan falling through, while Chelsea will also be keen to find new clubs for Malang Sarr and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
