Patrice Evra involved in altercation with Man City staff after Real Madrid win
Former Manchester United star Patrice Evra has explained why he became involved in an altercation with Manchester City's backroom staff during their Champions League semi-final victory over Real Madrid. In footage that circulated on social media, the Frenchman was spotted by spectators engaging in a heated discussion with Pep Guardiola's assistant Manuel Esiarte as tempers flared at the final whistle.
City ran out comfortable 4-0 winners on the night with a marvellous performance inside the Etihad as a double from Bernardo Silva, Eder Militao own goal and Julian Alvarez strike put Madrid to the sword, sending City through to their second Champions League final in the space of three years.
After the game, City's players walked around the pitch to salute the noisy home fans while Estiarte and Evra engaged in a conversation outside the technical area on the touchline.
Evra, who was working pitchside for French TV, was held by Estiarte as he tried to calm the situation, but the 42-year-old appeared to be unimpressed with the City assistant's behaviour.

After security came over to defuse the argument, Evra and Estiarte shook hands before going their separate ways, and it looked as if the issue had been resolved between the two.
Later appearing on CBS Sports alongside Micah Richards and Thierry Henry, Evra was noticeably more edgy than usual in answering questions and looked fired up. He also revealed he decided to wear a red blazer and red-tinted glasses due to his affiliation with United and the two clubs' rivalry to try and provoke a reaction.
Evra explained how the argument began, saying: "He [Estiarte] was looking at me going 'this is for you, this is for you!' and I say to him 'why are you starting? Why are you so agitated?'

"He said it's because last year, I said on TV that they s*** themselves, and that's why they lose against Madrid. They didn't s*** themselves [tonight]... and that's the truth Micah, you know I'm on an honest man, I speak straight. And afterwards, he apologised."
BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand posted a video of Evra in his red suit on social media with the caption: “Surprise surprise, my man Evra turning up to the Etihad in a RED suit”, using laughing emojis for good measure.
