Premier League transfer rumours as Deadline Day approaches
Transfer deadline day is finally upon us but it is expected to be a relatively quiet one for Manchester United, who have already met their two main objectives for the January window. Erik ten Hag was desperate to add a goalkeeper and a striker to his squad and managed to do so earlier this month with the loan signings of Crystal Palace stopper Jack Butland and Burnley marksman Wout Weghorst.
There is still every chance that some late activity could take place at Old Trafford before tonight's 11pm deadline, although a number of outgoings appear to be more likely than incomings as things stand. Harry Maguire could reportedly be set for a surprise loan move to Inter Milan, who are said to have launched a last-gasp enquiry over the England international's availability on a temporary basis.
Several of United's brightest academy talents have also been tipped to exit the club on loan in order to gain regular first-team minutes with clubs lower down the footballing pyramid. Dishon Bernard is thought to be eager to leave Old Trafford until the end of the season, while the likes of Brandon Williams and Zidane Iqbal have also been mentioned in connection with potential loan moves elsewhere over the last few days.

New Manchester United signing Marcel Sabitzer has spoken out about his decision to make a loan move to Old Trafford until the end of the season on deadline day.
Speaking to the club site, he said: “Sometimes in life you have to make quick and important decisions. From the moment I heard about this opportunity I knew it was right for me. I am a competitive player; I want to win and help the club achieve its aims this season.”
The midfielder then spoke about what he feels he can provide Erik ten Hag with for the remainder of the season. Read about that HERE.
Marcel Sabitzer has just left Manchester United's Carrington training ground as he waits for his move to be confirmed.
Sabitzer flew in to finalise his loan move from Bayern Munich earlier this afternoon. It is not yet clear if United will get the deal done in time though the club are said to be confident of beating the 12pm deadline after submitting a deal sheet.
Manchester United youth duo Joe Hugill and Sonny Aljofree are set for loan moves to local National League side Altrincham.
The Manchester Evening News report they will be innovative loan switches, where both will be able to train with United and represent the U21s as well as Altrincham.
Hugill and Aljofree join Maxi Oyedele at the club for the remainder of the season.
There seem to be polarising reports on Marcel Sabitzer's loan contract at Manchester United...
German outlets claim there is no buy option and it's simply a straight loan, but English media report there will be an option to make it permanent this summer.

Paul Ince has urged Manchester United to sign Federico Chiesa after his return from a long-term injury at Juventus.
Erik ten Hag is expected to target a striker in the summer, but Ince believes Chiesa should be on his wishlist if he wants competition for Antony on the right wing.
He told BoyleSports: "Federico Chiesa has only just started playing for Juventus again after a long-term injury.
"But prior to that, he was unplayable. The intensity is very different in Italy compared to England.
"If Chiesa was to come to Man United, then I think the fans would love him. I've seen him play on numerous occasions, and he'd be a perfect, perfect fit for Man United."
Di'Shon Bernard has joined Portsmouth on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 22-year-old centre-back will play in League One for the third loan spell of his career, previously playing at League Two Salford City and Championship Hull City.
Despite the drop-down, he will be earning more valuable senior minutes after spending this season in the U21s.
"We're disappointed, but it happens in top football and you have to deal with it," United boss Erik ten Hag told reporters today when quizzed on Christian Eriksen's long-term injury setback.
"I think you can never fill that gap, because every player has his own characteristics and identification.
"Another player will always fill in in a different way, but it doesn't mean you have to be less successful.
"It's quite clear Christian brings top quality to our squad and he has some specifics that are hard to replace, such as his impacts in the final third with his final ball."
United are currently in pole position to sign Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on a temporary basis, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Chelsea are not believed to be pursuing a move for the 28-year-old as things stand, with the Blues still aiming to land Benfica playmaker Enzo Fernandez before the January window slams shut.

Anthony Elanga is pushing to leave Old Trafford on loan ahead of tonight’s deadline.
That’s according to The Times, who are reporting that Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Barcelona are keen on signing the 20-year-old winger today.
Elanga has made just five Premier League starts for the Red Devils over the course of this season and could reap the rewards of a temporary move elsewhere in order to aid his development.
United have asked Bayern Munich about the possibility of signing Marcel Sabitzer on loan until the end of the season, according to Florian Plettenburg.
The Red Devils are said to have been joined by Chelsea in the race to land the 28-year-old in order to boost their midfield ranks over the next few hours.

United are frantically scrambling to sign a new midfielder on loan to fill the void left by Christian Eriksen's long-term injury setback.
That's according to The Telegraph, who claim the Red Devils are contacting several leading clubs around Europe with a view to bringing in a playmaker on a temporary basis.
United are said to have reached out to the likes of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain but have so far been left frustrated.
Manchester United have confirmed that Christian Eriksen is likely to be sidelined for a number of months after suffering an injury in their FA Cup fourth round victory over Reading on the weekend.
An official statement reads: "Christian Eriksen is expected to be out of action for an extended period because of an ankle injury sustained in our FA Cup victory over Reading on Saturday.
"Our Danish midfielder was withdrawn in the second half of the 3-1 win after being caught by a tackle from Reading striker Andy Carroll.
"While investigations are continuing, initial assessments indicate that Eriksen is likely to be out until late April or early May."
Facundo Pellistri will not be leaving Old Trafford on loan ahead of tonight's 11pm deadline, according to The Times.
The United youngster has been linked with a move elsewhere over the last few days but is now set to remain with his current employers until at least the end of the season.

Charlie McNeill has insisted that he is delighted to have joined Newport County on loan from United until the end of the season.
He told the club website: "I’m really proud and honoured to be representing this club. I know it’s a big club and a family-based club and I’m just really happy to be here.
"The gaffer made me feel really comfortable as soon as I spoke to him, he was really nice, he really sold it to me.
"I can’t wait to meet the lads, get training and hopefully play the game on Saturday!"
United youngster Charlie McNeill has joined League Two outfit Newport County on loan until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old is keen to be playing regular football after making his one and only first-team appearance for the Red Devils in the Europa League back in October.
Well, think this one was kept under wraps pretty smoothly...

United could be tempted to delve into the market if any low-cost deals present themselves over the next few hours, according to Ben Jacobs.
He told GiveMeSport: "It’s going to be a bargain or budget for Manchester United. Financially speaking, I don’t expect them to spend big or make a statement signing because of the uncertainty over the ownership situation.
"We know that the Glazers don’t want to spend, but if they can get somebody at a relatively low cost, then there’s still some business to be done."
Victor Lindelof will not be leaving United to sign for Inter Milan on loan until the end of the campaign, according to Fabrizio Romano.
He told CaughtOffside: "No way for Victor Lindelof to leave in January. Manchester United consider him 100 per cent part of the squad for the rest of the season, as mentioned yesterday.
Deji Sotona has returned to English football with Burnley three years after turning down a new deal with United.
The 20-year-old previously spent time with French club Nice, as well a loan move to Kilmarnock, but has since moved back to familiar shores with the Clarets.
Sotona is expected to form part of Burnley's under-21 setup to begin with.
Dishon Bernard has agreed a deal to join Portsmouth on loan until the end of the season, according to the Manchester Evening News.
He will be expected to play an important role for the League One heavyweights as they look to mount a top-six charge under new boss John Mousinho over the coming months.
Erik ten Hag recently refused to rule out the possibility of adding to his United squad on deadline day but insisted that the Red Devils will only strike if the right opportunities present themselves.
He told reporters earlier this week: "I have an idea [for the summer] but also in the coming days if we had the opportunity I would go for it but that's not also up to me, that's also clear.
"I think this club always has to have the approach that every day you have to get better so if there are opportunities to get better then you have to strike. That’s my approach so I'm looking around, to research."

United have received at least 10 loan offers for the services of Anthony Elanga, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Swedish winger has been linked with a temporary move elsewhere in advance of tonight's deadline but nothing is believed to be close as things stand.

Harry Maguire has made it clear that he is not keen on joining Inter Milan on loan until the end of the season.
That's according to the Daily Star, who claim that Maguire wants to stay at United until at least the end of the season.
He could decide to seek a move elsewhere in the summer, though, after being left frustrated with his lack of game time under Erik ten Hag so far this season.
Inter Milan could decide to chase a loan move for Victor Lindelof if United refuse to send Harry Maguire to the San Siro on a temporary basis, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
A move elsewhere for Maguire is said to be unlikely to happen today, leading to the emergence of Lindelof as another defensive target for the Italian giants.
The Swede has only made six Premier League appearances for United since the beginning of the season and has been left as an unused substitute in each of their last three matches.
Portsmouth have opened talks with United over a deadline-day loan move for defender Dishon Bernard, according to the Daily Mail.
The 22-year-old is hoping to leave Old Trafford on a temporary basis today after previously enjoying successful spells with Hull City and Salford City.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will not be returning to Crystal Palace today as a result of his resurgence at United over the last few weeks, according to The Sun.
The Eagles had been tipped to try and bring Wan-Bissaka back to Selhurst Park, although it now seems as though he will be staying at Old Trafford until at least the end of the season.

United could make a late offer to sign Raphinha from Barcelona over the next few hours, according to The Mirror.
The former Leeds United man has struggled to adapt to life at the Nou Camp and has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea in recent months.
However, it remains to be seen if Barcelona would be willing to let Raphinha leave with so little time remaining to secure a suitable replacement.
Everton are still hopeful of bringing Anthony Elanga to Goodison Park on loan until the end of the season, according to the back page of today's Daily Mail.
It is claimed that Sean Dyche has identified Elanga as one of two deadline-day targets and will push to land the United youngster ahead of tonight's 11pm cut-off point.
Elanga has made just five Premier League starts for the Red Devils over the course of this season and could reap the rewards of a loan move elsewhere in order to aid his development.
Erik ten Hag has discussed the possibility of launching a renewed approach for Barcelona midfielder and long-term United target Frenkie de Jong, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils initially tried to sign the Dutchman in the summer but were thwarted by the player's unshakeable desire to stay at the Nou Camp in order to fight for his place.
A fresh attempt to bring De Jong to Old Trafford has reportedly been talked about behind the scenes, although it remains to be seen whether a deal can be struck before the transfer window closes tonight.

Manchester United could be tempted to explore a late move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, who will be a free agent at the end of the season as things stand.
That's according to Ben Jacobs, who told The Football Terrace: "I think we shouldn’t only be referring to a late Manchester United movement in terms of strikers.
"From what I hear it’s more creative-minded players that can either get box-to-box from attacking midfield, or in central areas, or are a little more versatile across the front areas.
"Therefore, keep an eye on a player like Youri Tielemans who will be available on a free transfer in the summer.
"I guarantee you as soon as anyone puts an offer down for Tielemans, other clubs will have their heads turned and Manchester United are ones to watch in that capacity."
At least one United player could be set to leave Old Trafford on loan ahead of tonight's deadline, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Dishon Bernard is reportedly eager to seek regular first-team football elsewhere and has been earmarked for a temporary switch elsewhere in the last few hours of the January window.
Brandon Williams and Zidane Iqbal have also been linked with loan exits over the last few days but no moves are imminent for either player as things stand.
Inter Milan have enquired about the possibility of taking Harry Maguire on loan until the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.
The England defender has tumbled down the pecking order at Old Trafford over the course of this season, with Luke Shaw having been preferred to start as a makeshift centre-back in recent outings.
Inter are thought to have identified Maguire as a potential replacement for PSG-bound Milan Skriniar, although it remains unclear if United will be willing to let him leave Old Trafford with just hours until the January window draws to a close.

Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Cardiff City prospect Gabriele Biancheri, according to The Athletic, although they will not be required to have everything wrapped up before tonight's 11pm deadline.
The 16-year-old is already said to have completed a medical with the Red Devils as he gears up for a new challenge in his career.
He is expected to sign a scholar contract at first before penning a professional deal when he celebrates his 17th birthday in September.
Hello and welcome to Express Sport's live coverage of the latest Manchester United transfer news on deadline day.
