Shearer, who named the defender in his Premier League team of the week, said: "He was outstanding and showed why some say he deserves an England call-up."
Since his big-money switch to the Premier League, Webster has racked up over 80 appearances for the Sussex side and has even been tipped to break into Gareth Southgate's England team ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
