Manchester United insiders’ view on Donny van de Beek has emerged after the midfielder completed a deadline day switch to Everton. Van de Beek ended the transfer window by moving on loan to the Toffees in a bid to kickstart his Premier League career.
Everton appointed Frank Lampard on deadline day and moved quickly to back their new boss with signings.
They beat Crystal Palace and Valencia to the addition of Van de Beek - who has joined until the end of the season - and then completed a permanent transfer for Tottenham outcast Dele Alli.
Both players had struggled to earn game time at their respective clubs in the last 18 months.
Van de Beek, in particular, had experienced a bizarre spell at United after completing a £34million transfer in the summer of 2020.

The 24-year-old made just four Premier League starts in his maiden campaign, with former Red Devils boss keen to ease in the former Ajax star.
There was an expectation that Van de Beek would feature more frequently ahead of this term, but he failed to start a top-flight game before joining Everton.
Now, it has emerged why that might have been the case. According to the Independent’s Reading the Game newsletter, some at United feel that Van de Beek has ‘found his level’ by joining the Merseyside outfit.
It is claimed that insiders felt that he was not truly a ‘top-class’ player. In training, he would try a specific one-two that ‘almost never came off’.
