Arteta comments on Arsenal transfer plans ahead of January window

That's because they're targeting glory at the Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates next month.
For that reason, they are not willing to negotiate a deal with Arsenal this month.
Instead, any talks or desire to strike a deal will be shelved until after the completion of the tournament.
Arsenal require a midfielder as soon as possible and if Palmeiras' reported stance is indeed the club's position, the Gunners are likely to explore other targets.
