Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reviews Manchester City defeat
Manchester United’s owners, the Glazers, have reportedly narrowed down their list of potential Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replacements to just two names. One is Brendan Rodgers, with the other Mauricio Pochettino. However, the club have a problem when it comes to hiring the duo due to their current commitments and stances.
"They are putting out a message that they still believe in the cultural reboot, the kind of PR story that they've sold around Solskjaer,” he said.
"They therefore want a manager to fit that profile.
"I think that reduces down to most likely a couple of names, one of whom they've been interested in for a long time, Mauricio Pochettino, who may become available because he did not want to be at Paris Saint-Germain this summer, he was ready to go back to Tottenham.
"I can see why the Glazers are looking at the possibility that Pochettino might become available at some point during this season.

"Another name very prominent is Brendan Rodgers, who has a profile in terms of the kind of football he plays and development of youth that would appeal and fit with that cultural reboot idea and is interested in moving from Leicester at some point in the not too distant future to one of the top clubs in England."
The problem for United is, however, that neither man will be easy to appoint.
And that could leave the club stuck with Solskjaer, whose side have lost six of their last 12 matches across all competitions.
Pochettino was available until January, having left Tottenham back in October 2019.
But Paris Saint-Germain moved quicker to snare the Argentine, who has been at the Parc des Princes ever since.

Rodgers, meanwhile, reportedly has a clause in his Leicester contract that would allow him to leave the club should a Champions League team come calling.
Yet speaking last month, the Northern-Irishman made it clear he was happy in his current job.
"I don't even think about it - and that's the brutal honesty,” he said.
“I’m sure the supporters are probably tired of it. At Leicester, there is always a link.
"My focus is always here with Leicester and developing the football club on to that next level, where you're competing for European football and challenging for honours.

"Everyone here at the club, from the chief executive to the director of football - staff, players - we're all very much on the same path, same vision."
Leicester won’t give up Rodgers without a fight, either.
He’s been a big hit ever since replacing Claude Puel, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield titles during the time since.
And United, therefore, could certainly struggle when it comes to bringing either manager to Old Trafford.
Solskjaer will likely limp on for the time being and the Norwegian will be hopeful of improving results, starting with Watford next weekend.
