Manchester United are ‘screaming out for’ Abdoulaye Doucoure after the midfielder starred for Everton in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday, it has been claimed. Doucoure provided the assist for Andros Townsend’s second-half equaliser as United dropped points once again.

And he has now been lauded by former Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino, who thinks he is ideal for United.
“Look at United’s midfield and you think, that’s what they’re screaming out for - a Doucoure type of midfielder,” Cascarino said on talkSPORT.
“I can’t think of a better midfielder at the moment than Doucoure in the Premier League, the way he’s playing in this advanced role.
“He is playing brilliantly - he’s really playing well.”
Doucoure wasn’t known for his attacking prowess before this season got underway as he has often occupied a more defensive role during his spells at Vicarage Road and Goodison Park.

Despite that, he has been involved in 39 goals during his 165 Premier League games and could continue to flourish further up the pitch if given the opportunity.
Ahead of the new season, Doucoure gave an indication of what was to come as he discussed the new role Benitez had in store for him.
“Last season I had a deeper role - more defensive than at Watford,” Doucoure said. “I had the same skills but needed to adapt.
“This season, I think I am going to be more forward and attacking. The manager wants me to be more offensive.

“The first time we met, he explained my strengths and what I have to do. We have spoken a lot on the training pitch - he told me I have to go forward and score more goals.
“It is one of my main qualities as a player and I want to enjoy that this season. I can be in the box more, create a lot of chances and be in the final third to score more goals.
“I am practising this and will do it on matchdays. He is a great manager and has given me lots of advice and I am happy with that.”
