Neymar: Pundits on whether PSG move was the right decision
Neymar’s camp are reportedly trying to broker a stunning return to Barcelona despite the PSG star admitting he was set to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 giants. The Brazil international sparkled in midweek as Mauricio Pochettino’s side dumped Bayern Munich out of the Champions League. And he’s a wanted man, especially with his contract due to expire next year.
But, when fit, the PSG star has shown he’s got what it takes to rank up there with the best players in world football.
Neymar was mesmerising as the Ligue 1 titans knocked Bayern Munich out of the Champions League recently, lighting up both ties as they boosted their chances of winning the trophy.
In the aftermath, the 29-year-old insisted he was likely to sign a new PSG contract by saying: “I don’t think this is even a topic any more; I obviously feel very comfortable, at home at PSG.

Neymar hasn’t yet signed a new PSG contract because of his dream to play with Messi.
And whether he’s able to get his wish in this summer’s transfer window is something only time will tell, especially with Manchester United also being linked.
It recently emerged the Red Devils were ‘monitoring’ the former Barcelona star’s situation, especially with his current deal due to expire next year.
Yet Barcelona are still frontrunners should Neymar wish to leave PSG behind.
Meanwhile, speaking last year, Messi expressed a belief that Neymar regretted leaving Barcelona behind and would love to return.

“It bothered me at the time [when Neymar left] and we tried to convince him not to do it,” he said.
“But we all want to win and have the best players around us.
“He’s one of the best players in the world and he brought a lot to the team. But it’s understandable that people would see it as leaving in a bad way.”
“He is desperate to return and has always appeared to regret his decision.
“He did a lot to come back and that would be the first step in making it happen. He was always fine at Barca, performing at a very high level. He’s a different type of player who is difficult to stop one-on-one and score goals.”

Joan Laporta was recently appointed as Barcelona’s new president.
But, when quizzed on Neymar back in December, he refused to open up on the possibility of re-signing the forward.
"I will not talk about this or that player during the campaign, because it can destabilise the team,” he said.
"They are attentive to all the stories that come out.
"I don't want someone from inside (Barça) to tell me that I have destabilised the club, if I win."
