Brighton's Tariq Lamptey continues to be linked with the Gunners, though the former Chelsea youngster has played the majority of his first-team football as a wing-back rather than an out-and-out defender.
Arteta needs a player capable of doing both facets of the game to a high standard, which could eventually be Lamptey.
Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes improving at right-back will undoubtedly help the player who plays in front of him, too.
Campbell told Football Insider: “We need somebody who is like Tierney but on the right-hand side, somebody who will give us some thrust and some endeavour down that flank.

“We need a player who is able to play with multiple types of players because everyone who plays on the right-wing is different."
Tierney has recently spoken of his love of playing with Emile Smith Rowe down the left flank.
So if Arsenal can find a similar player to complement Bukayo Saka on the opposite side, then they will be onto a winner.
