Man Utd: Solskjaer says Cavani demanded no.7 shirt
Manchester United are currently seeing the best of Edinson Cavani. The Uruguay international has sparkled for the Red Devils of late and, against Fulham on Wednesday night, struck for the fifth time this season. And while he only signed a one-year contract upon arriving at Old Trafford back in the summer, fans have no reason to fear.
United were mocked when they signed Cavani on transfer deadline day.
Having spent the whole of the summer window chasing a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, the arrival of the 33-year-old was viewed as a panic buy.
But, fast-forward to now, and the deal is starting to make a lot more sense.
Cavani is elevating this United side and is a throwback to the strikers of old. He isn’t electric like Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford or Mason Greenwood. Instead, he merely does what he was brought in to do: score.
Despite having suspension and fitness issues this term, he’s found the net five times now.
His latest goal came against Fulham on Wednesday night, with the 33-year-old showing predatory instincts to level the scores at Craven Cottage.

Solskjaer hailed the Uruguay international after the match against Fulham, imploring his team-mates to use the forward more.
“That’s a centre-forward’s goal and you’ve got to be there to score. That’s what he does,” he said.
“If you just watch him, if you have a player cam on him, his movement is incredible, fantastic.
“We’ve just got to get used to using him more. In the second half when he gets his header, what a save by Areola. So it’s good to have different options up front.”
The 47-year-old also praised Paul Pogba for his match-winning goal, adding: "I think we started slow but after their goal I felt we played well. We needed to wake up and after that we played really well.

"We don't do offsides really, we should follow the run. We had not woken up but good reaction.
"Fantastic goal by Paul and we had some other chances to finish the game but of course when it is just one goal and the players they put on it is going to be like heart in your mouth.
"He [Paul Pogba] has really come on. He is fit, he can play in midfield and he can play wide.
"That is key with Paul, getting him match fit and running fit and he is at the moment. He played very well."
