Barcelona president resignation ‘victory’ for Messi says pundit
Barcelona are reportedly fearful Mauricio Pochettino will sign Lionel Messi for PSG should he become the Ligue 1 giants’ next manager. Thomas Tuchel has been sacked by the reigning champions of France and Pochettino, who has been out of work since leaving Tottenham in October 2019, is expected to take over. And that, it seems, has Barcelona running scared.
Barcelona face the prospect of losing Messi at the end of the season.
They want to keep hold of the Argentina international but, with Ronald Koeman’s side misfiring, a move away from the Nou Camp looks increasingly likely.
Messi has spent the entirety of his professional career at Barcelona yet is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with European clubs when the transfer window reopens in January.
Over at PSG, meanwhile, and Pochettino is set to take over.
Tuchel was ruthlessly dispatched on Christmas Eve, despite the German steering the French champions to a first-ever Champions League final earlier in the year.
And OKDiario say Barcelona presidential candidates are fearful Pochettino will land Messi for PSG, in a deal that would send shockwaves around the footballing world.
