Arsenal: Mikel Arteta has 'given up' on Mesut Ozil says Dunn
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is ‘not thought’ to be considering recalling Mesut Ozil despite his side’s woeful start to the Premier League campaign. The Germany international was left out of the Spaniard’s squads at the beginning of the season, with the north London giants struggling in the time since. They lock horns with Chelsea on Boxing Day seeking a first win since November 1.
Arsenal went into the campaign with such high hopes after Arteta guided them to FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs.
However, they’ve endured a wretched start to the season - picking up just 14 points from their opening 14 league matches.
Arsenal go up against Chelsea on Boxing Day with Arteta’s job in the line, with Thomas Tuchel and Massimiliano Allegri both being linked.
Many have slammed the Spaniard for leaving Ozil out of his Premier League and Europa League squads.
The Germany international’s lack of action has been one of the biggest talking points, especially with the playmaker admitting he was crushed by his manager’s decision.
Yet iNews claim that Arteta is ‘not thought’ to be considering bringing Ozil back into the fold.

And, instead, a move away from Arsenal when the transfer window reopens in January looks to be far likelier.
It’s claimed the 2014 World Cup winner is exploring opportunities in Italy, Qatar, Germany and Turkey - but a move to America could also be on the cards.
Ozil is said to have received numerous requests from major studios and documentary makers to film something for a major streaming platform.
There is reportedly big interest in his life from past to present, from his rise to a superstar at Real Madrid to his fall from grace from the Germany national team.
Streaming platforms are also said to be interested in his activism, with the 32-year-old previously speaking out on issues such as China’s treatment of Uighur Muslims - and then suffering as a result.
And while Arsenal are bereft of creativity this term, it seems like Ozil won’t be donning their red and white colours again.
Ozil was recently asked whether he was happy with the Gunners.
And the Arsenal star admitted he wished he could help the team, saying: “It’s a very difficult time for everyone around the club – not just for me.
“The situation is frustrating for everyone.
“Of course I would wish I could help the team especially right now, but as long as I don’t get the chance I just hope that we get better results very soon again.”
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp recently called on Arteta to end Ozil’s exile, with the former Liverpool star saying: "There are so many problems right now with this team, it’s hard to put your finger on which one is worst.
“He’s got another problem now, with people saying, ‘Should you bring Mesut Ozil back in?’. For me, of course you have to.
