Man Utd ‘most serious contender’ for Sancho signing says expert
Manchester United legends have come out in recent times to talk up Jadon Sancho. And, curiously, some of them actually work for the Red Devils in ambassadorial roles. Public praise is a method long used by Real Madrid and Barcelona players when it comes to getting them through the door - and now it seems the Red Devils are doing the same.
Manchester United want to sign Sancho. And while Borussia Dortmund want big money for their star asset, there’s a sense Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to land his man.
Thanks to some help from club legends, that may just be done.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have long used that tactic when it comes to getting players through the door. By talking up a player they hope to make a potential transfer that bit more attractive.
And, now, United appear to be chancing their arm at the same.
Andy Cole still works as an ambassador for the Red Devils and recently talked up Sancho by saying to MUTV: "You’re always looking to bring in players.
"There’s talk of Jadon Sancho coming in. Would he give Manchester United something different? Of course he would.

"I’m not going to sit here and say, “Oh no, he’s not good enough!” because of course he’s good enough.
"He’s got pace, he’s got the ability to go past players, score goals and create.
"I think ultimately all those kind of things are going to be down to financial issues coming out of COVID-19 – financially, it’s hit every football club.
"But Manchester United will undoubtedly look to strengthen and look to add to what they have."
Another United legend Dwight Yorke, who still works as an ambassador, also talked up Sancho in the past week.
Speaking on a Zoom call, he said: “Sancho is a terrific talent and he’s linked with every top team around the world.
“So, if Ole sees him as a player that can really bring something to the team and really make sure that core of players keep competition for places, then they should go for it.
“It would force other players to get their skates on and start performing. That’s a healthy thing and that’s what you want to see at United.”
Yorke and Cole’s fellow treble winner Wes Brown has also talked up Sancho when talking to the club’s in-house television channel.
"Talent and excitement. We need someone exactly like that at the club," the ex-Red Devil responded when asked what the Borussia Dortmund winger could bring to Old Trafford.
"We’ve had them over the years and I’m sure if we were to sign him he would bring that excitement back to the club. It would be good for the team as well.
"We’ve had players like that in the past, like with Cristiano Ronaldo. They’re the type of player who draw three or four defenders out and make the game a lot easier for the other players.
"If we could do it, it would be a brilliant signing."
It seems that United are after Sancho and their club legends, by talking up a potential move to Old Trafford, are doing some of the work for them.
But what ultimately happens remains to be seen.
Borussia Dortmund are only prepared to part ways with their prized asset for £108million - which would make him the costliest signing in United’s history.
And with the Red Devils’ attack flourishing at present, whether Solskjaer needs the England international at the current time is debatable.
