Arsenal: Ozil needs to 'up his stats' at the club says expert
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is a transfer target for Fenerbahce and a close friend of the playmaker has insisted the Turkish club are "working on a transfer" to sign the midfielder. Ozil's current contract keeps him at the Emirates until 2021, however, the player has been linked with an exit from the club in recent seasons.
The former German international has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce for several years, however, a close friend of the player, Acun Ilicali, has now claimed Ozil's next move could take him to the Turkish giants.
"I receive lots of questions about Mesut Ozil," Ilicali said in an interview with SportX.
"I believe in the future that good things will happen.
"I’m not in a position to give details but I know our president is also working hard for this."

However, Ilicali, who is a TV host and big Fenerbahce fan, has insisted that the move will not be imminent, as the Turkish club would be looking to approach Ozil when his contract expires next season.
“When his contract with Arsenal will expire, the favourites would be Fenerbahce," Ilicali added.

"I really wanted to tell you in more detail, but I cannot.
"We’ll talk about these things when the time comes.”
Ozil's position at Arsenal appeared uncertain during the reign of former boss Unai Emery, however, new manager Mikel Arteta has given the 31-year-old several opportunities this season.
However, overall it has been a poor campaign for Ozil when compared to previous seasons, as he has only managed one goal and three assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.
Ozil's performances for Arsenal have often come under intense scrutiny due to his £350,000-a-week wages.
