Man Utd: Solskjaer reveals Pogba's return can be ‘expected’
Manchester United star Paul Pogba has clashed with Jesse Lingard over his Europa League final goal against Ajax in 2017. In an amusing exchange Lingard insisted the Frenchman’s strike should have gone down as a own-goal - but the 27-year-old disagrees.
Manchester United duo Pogba and Lingard were both involved when the club won the Europa League in 2017, back when Jose Mourinho was manager.
The Red Devils faced Ajax in the final and opened the scoring through Pogba before Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled the club’s lead.
Pogba’s strike cannoned off Davinson Sanchez into the net and, in an amusing exchange on the club’s official website, Lingard cheekily claimed his team-mates’ strike should actually have gone down as an own-goal.
But Pogba has responded by insisting the goal should remain his.
“It was my goal! If I don’t shoot, the ball doesn’t go that way,” he said while laughing.

Lingard also admitted it was a special evening for the club.
And the England international said it carried extra weight because the win was achieved with fellow academy graduates such as Pogba and Marcus Rashford in the side.
“It was amazing [to win the final],” the No 14 continued.
“European finals are every boy’s dream, and to lift the trophy with the likes of Paul and Marcus [Rashford], who I’d grown up with, was a beautiful feeling.
