Man Utd target Kane talks Tottenham future
Manchester United have been linked with Harry Kane in recent weeks.
And the Tottenham star, when asked if he wants to stay at the club forever, said: “It’s a good question.
“Obviously I get asked this question a lot. It’s one of them things. I couldn’t say yes, I couldn’t say no. I love Spurs, I’d always love Spurs, but it’s one of them things.
“I’ve always said if I don’t feel progression in the team or going the right direction then I’m not someone to just stay there for the sake of it.
“I’m an ambitious player, I want to improve, I want to get better. I want to become one of the top top players.
“It all depends what happens with the team and how we progress as a team. So it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there for ever but it’s not a no either.”
Mata opens up on Moyes
Juan Mata has admitted he found it sad when United sacked David Moyes in 2014.
But the Spain international also claimed that, because of the club's bad results under the Scot, the current West Ham boss had to go.
“I always feel bad when a manager has to go," he said.
"Because it means that you are not doing right, or you are not getting results. So it's not a nice feeling.
"So unfortunately he had to go. But of course, I'm very thankful to him."
Funny Pogba and Lingard exchange
Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard were both involved when the club won the Europa League in 2017, back when Jose Mourinho was manager.
The Red Devils faced Ajax in the final and opened the scoring through Pogba before Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled the club’s lead.
Pogba’s strike cannoned off Davinson Sanchez into the net and, in an amusing exchange on the club’s official website, Lingard cheekily claimed his team-mates’ strike should actually have gone down as an own-goal.
But Pogba has responded by insisting the goal should remain his.
“It was my goal! If I don’t shoot, the ball doesn’t go that way,” he said while laughing.
“It was a lucky shot and the ball went in.
“When you’re winning at the start that gives you an advantage. It was a good start for us.”
Bellingham role emerges
United are convinced they’ll beat Borussia Dortmund to the signing of Jude Bellingham come the summer transfer window.
And 90Min claim they’re ready to offer the 16-year-old a first-team role right away.
Bellingham is also wanted by Dortmund and has concerns about how much playing time he’d get at United.
But the Red Devils are keen to ease those worried by guaranteeing him a role in the first-team setup right away.
United are hoping they can make Bellingham their latest British recruit having landed Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire throughout Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign so far.
Solskjaer makes Ramsey decision
Pundit Ian McGarry has claimed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has decided he’s happy to take Aaron Ramsey at Old Trafford.
“This time they have offered Wales international Aaron Ramsey as a potential makeway as part of any player plus cash deal,” McGarry said on Reach Plc’s Transfer Window Podcast.
“It’s also my understanding that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on Ramsey, likes him very much, a player in his prime.”
United came close to signing Ramsey when he was at Cardiff, back when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge.
But they ended up missing out, with the 29-year-old choosing to join Arsenal instead.
Mata says Van Gaal was emotional
Juan Mata has claimed Louis van Gaal was ‘emotional’ during his time as United manager.
“He was scary! He was scary, I tell you!” he told the club’s official website.
“He was a very nice man, very genuine. Very sensible. You wouldn't expect that, but he was very sensible.
“He could even get emotional and crying sometimes when he was speaking about important matters that he found with the right values, or the right football... he got emotional.”
The duo spent two years at Old Trafford together, winning the FA Cup in 2016.
Mata makes Fernandes and Ighalo vow
Juan Mata has vowed to help Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo continue to shine for United.
“I feel young, honestly, in my body and in my mind,” he said.
“But obviously I've been playing in the club, and in English football and professionally for 12-13 years now, and so that gives me experience to – especially in difficult situations – behave in a certain way or give advice to the youngsters or something like that, and I think he values that also.
“Me, as a player, what I can give on the pitch, but also that I will try my best off the pitch for the new players that come, like now Bruno [Fernandes] and Odion [Ighalo], for the youngsters that come through the Academy like Brandon [Williams], Chongy [Tahith Chong], Angel [Gomes] and Jimmy [Garner].”
