Liverpool’s hopes of lifting the Premier League title have been boosted following the emergency meeting between all 20 clubs today. The decision was made this morning that fixtures would be suspended for at least two weeks, while the country continues to combat the outbreak of the epidemic in the UK.

The government will continue to monitor how the country copes with the disease which is predicted to reach its peak within 11 to 14 weeks.
UEFA have also suspended Champions League and Europa League matches and are drawing up plans to ensure the tournaments get completed.
Euro 2020 is expected to be put back until next year to allow domestic leagues to be concluded this summer.
There are plenty of questions surrounding how the delay of this season could impact the next season's campaign and the transfer market.

Decisions are not set to be made hastily though with all authorities set to pull together in the coming weeks to ensure the right decisions are made across the board to protect the safety of the public.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he doesn’t know if his side will be able to lift the title.
“None of us know in this moment what the final outcome will be, but as a team we have to have belief that the authorities make decisions based on sound judgement and morality,” he said in a statement on the Liverpool website.
“Yes, I am the manager of this team and club and therefore carry a leadership responsibility with regards to our future on the pitch.

“But I think in the present moment, with so many people around our city, the region, the country and the world facing anxiety and uncertainty, it would be entirely wrong to speak about anything other than advising people to follow expert advice and look after themselves and each other.
“The message from the team to our supporters is only about your well-being. Put your health first. Don’t take any risk. Think about the vulnerable in our society and act where possible with compassion for them.
“Please look after yourselves and look out for each other.”
