Man Utd transfer news: Josh King pursuit has failed because of Jarrod Bowen (Image: GETTY)
Manchester United have reportedly failed to sign Bournemouth striker Josh King because the Cherries have missed out on Jarrod Bowen, according to reports. The deal on King was dependent on Eddie Howe's side landing a new hitman but Bowen is now West Ham-bound instead.
Manchester United, not content with the signing of Bruno Fernandes, are aiming to bring in a striker before the transfer window shuts at 11pm on Friday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had initially hoped to secure the signature of Erling Haaland but, despite the 19-year-old telling his compatriot he'd join, the teenager ended up moving to Borussia Dortmund instead.
United have looked at other targets but, early on deadline day, it emerged they'd bid for King.
The player previously played for the club at youth level under Solskjaer.
But The Athletic say United's bid has failed because Bournemouth have missed out on signing Bowen, who is now set to join West Ham instead.
That means the Red Devils are now facing a fight to bring someone in with the clock ticking down and time, seemingly, against them.
