Bruno Fernandes: Sporting send well wishes following transfer
Bruno Fernandes has all the ingredients to be a success at Manchester United, according to former Sporting Lisbon star Manuel Fernandes. The Portugal international is on the verge of sealing a big-money move to Old Trafford.
After protracted negotiations, in which United initially didn’t want to meet Sporting’s valuation of the player, the Red Devils have agreed a £55million deal for the midfielder.
The deal, which will include add-ons, will see Fernandes pen a four-year contract at Old Trafford.
United’s imminent acquisition of Fernandes will see them secure the services of the best player in the Primeira Liga.
And Manuel believes his namesake will be a huge success in the Premier League.

The former Sporting striker told Renascenca: “He's something that the English really appreciate and he will be useful.
“In England, there are no teams playing with very low lines and the bottom club are able to compete on the pitch of the top without any problem.
“It’s a league to the image of Bruno Fernandes, I think he’ll be very successful at Manchester United.”
Manuel is sad to see Fernandes leave Lisbon but believes his stellar form over the last two years made it impossible for Sporting to retain his services.
He added: “He was a team captain that Sporting had and no longer have.
“It’s understood. He couldn’t possibly stay at Sporting.
“Bruno deserves to leave for what he gave Sporting these three years.
“Deserves to go to a top European club, despite Manchester United not doing very well these last few years.”

Fernandes joined Sporting in the summer of 2017 from Serie A side Udinese for a fee of £7.2million.
The Portugal international has gone from strength to strength since moving back to his homeland, scoring 63 goals and providing 63 assists in 137 appearances.
Should Fernandes complete his move to The Theatre of Dreams, his first game as a Red Devil could come against Wolves - whom United welcome to Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
