Liverpool: Werner would be 'a great signing' claims pundit
Liverpool could agree a fee to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner before the summer, says transfer expert Ian McGarry. Werner has long been linked with a move to Liverpool and Express Sport understands Jurgen Klopp holds a long standing interest in the Germany international.
Werner will not leave Leipzig mid-season as he wants to help the club win their first ever Bundesliga title.
But McGarry says there is a chance a fee could be agreed with Liverpool before the end of the season.
“Werner will not leave Leipzig in this window, he wants to stay and see out the season with the club who leading the Bundesliga at this moment in time and who remain in Champions League contention as well,” McGarry said on the Transfer Window podcast.
“However, Liverpool are his preferred destination and indeed Liverpool are in the box-seat to sign him.

“For me he’s a centre forward, and you’re telling me Bobby Firmino is going to be benched for Timo Werner?
“It is, that means you need to bring in young players.
“As young as he is, he’s an established player, so that’s the reason he won’t be going to Liverpool.”
Werner has previously stated he would be keen on moving to the Premier League in the future, but not yet.
