Man Utd: Solskjaer on 'short term deals' in transfer window
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has named the two areas his former club must strengthen immediately. Speaking after United’s 2-0 loss to rivals Liverpool on Sunday, Neville said there ideally needs to be “five or six” new players brought to the club. However, with injuries to Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba, the pundit says up front and in midfield must be the priorities this month.
“At a lot lower level I’m an owner of a football club [Salford City] and the idea of trying to get the right players in this month is difficult because the best players essentially aren’t going to be available, you might have to pay over the odds.
“But there’s no doubt that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and those Manchester United players need some assistance in that dressing room.
“Marcus Rashford is out for potentially two or three months, so they’re going to be light up front, and you look at the midfield, it’s bleak.

“Marcus now, Anthony [Martial]’s been out for months, Paul's been out for more than half the season and Scott's been out for months.
“It's just an unfortunate situation that we're in. It might be, because the window is open, we might look at some short-term deals as well that could take us through to the summer.
”We're looking at numbers as well because we have had many injuries so if the right one's there and it will fit for us, we can buy.
“If there are loans available, it might be possible. But I've got players here as well that are champing at the bit.”
