Manchester United always expected a backlash from Mino Raiola after failing to bring Erling Haaland to Old Trafford, according to reports. The 19-year-old ended up joining Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg instead, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being keen to land his compatriot.

Raiola has repeatedly hit out at United in the wake of Haaland’s decision to join Dortmund.
“I do not know if Manchester United are briefing this but if they are then they are covering their own loss and that I find strange and disappointing,” he said.
“There was no fall-out between me and [United executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward.
“It was just a normal negotiation and the player has chosen a different path.
“If they want to blame someone then, fine, blame me but the player is happy. He has made his choice and we went through a normal process.”

Raiola then proceeded to say that United would ruin even the best players, adding: "He argued with [Sir Alex] Ferguson.
"Paul was the only one to say no to him, he never stomached it and took it out on me.
“But now Pogba’s problem is Manchester: it is a club out of touch with reality, without a sporting project
"Today I wouldn’t bring anyone else there, they would ruin even [Diego] Maradona, Pele and [Paolo] Maldini.
“Paul needs a team and a society, one like at Juve before."
