Martin Odegaard: It's a dream come true to play for Real Madrid
Real Sociedad have announced that Martin Odegaard has joined Manchester City on loan until the end of the season… Or has he? Sociedad released a statement claiming that Odegaard will play for City until May and thanked him for his immense contribution to the club.

The announcement raised plenty of eyebrows, particularly because the attacking midfielder plays on loan for the La Liga side from Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old has been so impressive at the Anoeta with 16 appearances this season and has been tipped to return to Real so that he can join the first team.
Sociedad announced in their official website: “Real Sociedad have reached an agreement with Manchester City over the loan of Martin Ødegaard.
“The player is set to stay at Manchester City until the end of the season.

The announcement added: “We are forced to take this difficult decision in order to avoid possible media comments for the next six months. What a relief!”
December 28 marks the Day of the Holy Innocents in Spain which is celebrated in similar fashion to April Fool’s Day.
Therefore a number of newspapers and TV stations share joke stories that are not based on facts and Sociedad were only taking part in the fun.
City don’t seem to be part of the gag as they have yet to share a reaction but Odegaard is not expected to appear at the Etihad in any capacity.

Manager Pep Guardiola has also recently stated that he is not interested in buying any midfielders in January.
Guardiola said: “I don't think we're going to do anything in this position, I don't think we will sign anyone.
"Maybe I will change my mind it depends on the next six months, but I have other priorities and I don't think I'm going to buy because I have enough.
"Bernardo [Silva] can play there, Phil [Foden] is there, we have (Ilkay) Gundogan, we have Kevin (De Bruyne) so I don't think we will do anything in this position.
"That is my thought today, we will see at the end of the season."
