Jose Mourinho demands 'raging' Man Utd response as Tottenham look for Burnley bounce back
Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is keen for his charges to be "raging" against Burnley today as they look to respond to their defeat to Manchester United.
“It’s obvious we do have problems, that’s no doubt. But we have players with quality, a great human dressing room.
"But we have to change the feeling of feeling sorry for mistakes and sadness for bad results. We need to be more than that.”
Mourinho himself was so seething at the first setback at the start of his Tottenham reign that he did not even want to go home.
Holing up in the Spurs Lodge, his mind was instantly on today’s game against Burnley at White Hart Lane.
“I slept in here after the Manchester United game,” he said after his pre-match press conference.

“I did not go home. So the next morning at eight o’clock I was in here. Doing what? Burnley… Burnley!
“Analysing…trying to organise the training session… trying to organise the meeting… choosing the clips to show them in the clearest possible how Burnley work.
"That’s the way you have to do it in football – not to accept things in a passive way.”
Mourinho explained that he wants his players to get a sense of perspective on what dropping three points at United actually means.
“Sadness is for grief,” he said. “When you lose somebody, you have be sad. You have to be grieving, you have to be crying.
“But there is no solution. You lose a person – there is no way of changing that.
“You lose a football match – there is always the next one. You replace one game with another game.
“I have finished this one, I will get on with the next one. Keep moving, keep going, keep learning and do not accept that the defeat is something empty.
“Accept it is a learning process and go on to the next game.”
Importantly, Mourinho feels that his new charges have the right emotional strength within themselves – they just need a bit of a nudge to channel it in the right way.

“I am here to help them – that’s my job,” he said. “They are fantastic players and the most difficult part is for them to have their talent.
“I am here to help them with the rest.”
That said, Mourinho insisted he is a “pitch coach” not a “meetings coach” and expressed his frustration at the intensity of the fixture calendar right now.
“We have the Bayern match where I’m going to rest some players and will work with the players who are not going to be involved,” he said. “It’s on the pitch where we can improve things.”
Probable Tottenham team to face Burnley (4-2-3-1): Gazzaniga; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Dier, Winks; Moura, Alli, Son; Kane.
