Andre Gomes: Everton manager Silva addresses injury
Everton star Cenk Tosun explained how Andre Gomes was “crying, shouting and screaming” after his horror injury against Tottenham at Goodison Park.
Gomes was brought down by Son Heung-min’s tackle after 79 minutes while running down the left flank and then collided with Serge Aurier upon landing on the pitch.
Fans and players were then left in shock as the Everton ace’s ankle was twisted 90 degrees to the right from its normal position and his team-mates rushed to his side to console him.
Son was devastated and broke down in tears before referee Martin Atkinson showed him a red card while Serge Aurier was praying for his fellow professional footballer.
Tosun was one of the players who rushed to the Portugal international’s side and revealed that the midfielder was in shock over the incident as the pair exchanged words in the immediate aftermath.
The Turkey international added that the Everton dressing room was bleak at full-time as some players nearly cried for their team-mate.
Gomes was stretchered off of the pitch amid a warm ovation from the crowd and was taken to Aintree hospital.
Tosun said: "Everybody is sad inside.
