Garry Lineker expressed sympathy for devastated Tottenham star Son Heung-min following Everton ace Andre Gomes’ shock injury.
Son chased back and lunged to Gomes with a tackle as he ran down the left flank and the Portugal international then made contact with Serge Aurier as he landed on the pitch.
Fans and players started to panic as they saw that the midfielder’s ankle was twisted 90 degrees to the right from its normal position and his team-mates rushed to his side to console him.
Son broke down in tears while Aurier started praying for his fellow footballer who was stretchered out of the pitch amid a warm ovation from the crowd at Goodison Park.
Son clearly massively upset. Without the injury he wouldn’t have been shown a red card. He’ll care less about that than injuring a fellow professional so seriously. Such a shame

The South Korea international was shown a yellow card which was then changed to a red card by referee Martin Atkinson and Son walked to the dressing room while Tottenham’s coaching staff tried to calm him down.
Lineker, though, appears to disagree with the ref’s decision and feels like the Spurs forward wouldn’t have been sent off if it wasn’t for Gomes' horrific injury.
The Tottenham legend feels bad for Gomes as well as the shaken Son, who was horrified with his fellow professional footballer’s injury.
Lineker tweeted: “Son clearly massively upset. Without the injury he wouldn’t have been shown a red card. He’ll care less about that than injuring a fellow professional so seriously. Such a shame.”

Jamie Carragher also claimed during commentary that Son shouldn’t have been shown a red card.
Carragher feels that Gomes’ foot was caught underneath him during the clash with Aurier.
The Liverpool legend said: “It's not a red card.
