Arsenal could replace Unai Emery with Jose Mourinho (Image: GETTY)
Arsenal have been linked with Jose Mourinho amid their torrid run of form under Unai Emery.
And, now, reports claim the Portuguese needs an assurance met before completing a sensational return to the Premier League.
Emery has found himself facing the sack at Arsenal at the end of the season. Only by finishing in the top four, thus guaranteeing Champions League football, can he hope to remain in charge for a third campaign.
And ESPN say that Mourinho, who is out of work, would like to take over - but only if he’s assured the Gunners will be competitive.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December 2015 but returned to United, where he won the EFL Cup and Europa League.
And the former Real Madrid manager would now jump at the chance to try and win trophies with Arsenal.
However, former Gunners star Nigel Winterburn has expressed a belief that Mourinho coming in may anger fans.
And he reckons that Patrick Vieira would be the right man for the job, saying: "Mourinho is a terrific manager in terms of records and the players he could possibly get to the club.
"I just don't know if he would sit right with the Arsenal supporters, or if that's the line the board would go down.
"I get a feeling that if things don't work out for Unai Emery they may look to switch to a new and upcoming young manager.
