Man Utd is a ‘massive step up’ for Bruno Fernandes says fan
Manchester United always insisted they were never in the mix for Bruno Fernandes during the summer transfer window.
The links were continuous. Just about every day there was a fresh report suggesting a deal that would take the Portugal international to Old Trafford was in the offing, that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer himself personally wanted him.
Ultimately, Manchester United grew tired of the speculation. They believed Portuguese press was deliberately stirring so that Sporting Lisbon, Fernandes’ club, would pocket as high a fee as possible.
But if the Red Devils thought they didn’t have a reason to sign the 25-year-old, that isn’t the case now.
Creativity is a problem for this United side. At the moment, they’re misfiring in front of goal but the lack of a top, quality attacking midfielder is harming their chances of finishing teams off.
Jesse Lingard looks lost. The Red Devils star’s performance levels have dropped off significantly since he turned Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium into his own private dance floor in January.
The England international angered Solskjaer during the summer when a distasteful video involving him did the rounds on social media.
But he’s done nothing to prove to his manager in the time since that he deserves a place at Old Trafford.
The decision to give Juan Mata a new contract looks wrong, too.
United were always wary of tying the Spain international down but, when he offered to take a pay cut, they gave in.
