Unai Emery explains what he told Arsenal stars during half time team talk against Man Utd
Arsenal boss Unai Emery was unhappy after his side was made to settle for a draw at Manchester United.
Arsenal and Manchester United played out a drab 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Monday night.
The two sides set an unwanted Premier League record by failing to register a shot in the first 27 minutes.
Scott McTominay’s beautiful opener was the highlight of a dire first-half.
The Scottish wonderkid picked up the ball on the edge of the area before taking a touch and smashing into the top corner.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got the equaliser just before the hour mark, despite his effort initially being ruled out for offside.
The Gabonese striker was played through on goal before chipping David de Gea, but was originally deemed to be offside.
However, after VAR was consulted, it was proved that Aubameyang was actually being played onside by Harry Maguire.
Despite picking up a vital point away from home, Emery wasn’t happy with his side, and revealed in his post-game press conference what he told his side during the break.
"It's not the best result. In the first half they pressed a lot but we controlled the match with good possession,” he said.
“At half-time we spoke about being calm and we tried to find our moment to win the match.
“After our game they improved little by little. They had some chances to score and at the end I think the draw is a deserved result for both teams.
"We can be better defensively and we are going to sometimes need to do more offensively.
“I want more control with the ball, to create better chances. But being competitive against Manchester United here is a good point.
"[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang is very important for us. He is very committed with his work. He is happy and we are happy.
“I want to give confidence for [Nicolas] Pepe and [Reiss] Nelson to have more chances and to have more possibilities to score."
