Five things we learned from Man Utd's emphatic Chelsea Premier League win
HERE are five things we learned from Manchester United's stirring 4-0 Premier League win over Chelsea.
Man Utd: Solskjaer praises ‘excellent’ team after Chelsea win
Paul Pogba cares
Paul Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United. Real Madrid want him, Juventus would love to take him back and the player himself has only served to fuel the flames, rather than extinguish them.
But the France international cares, as was evident against Chelsea. There was a moment early in the first half where Pogba shouted at Scott McTominay, furious at his team-mates failure to find him.
Pogba's body language may not always help his cause but the Manchester United star isn't letting talk of a move away cloud his head.
Whether he's still at United by September 2, though, remains to be seen.
Chelsea's ban will hurt them
The 4-0 scoreline flatters United, because Chelsea did not play like a side who deserved to concede four in such emphatic fashion at Old Trafford.
However, it's already apparant that Frank Lampard faces a fight to steer this side to major honours and a top four Premier League finish.
The Blues' transfer ban means that there are players wearing Blue who possibly shouldn't be.
It will be a major achievement if Lampard is able to achieve his Chelsea goals in his first season with no reinforcements through the door.
Anthony Martial may be back
Anthony Martial has divided opinion among Manchester United fans having spent the last three years struggling for consistency.
But with his old No 9 on the back of his shirt - something he pointed out upon scoring the Red Devils' second goal of the game - he flourished against Chelsea.
United are hoping Martial can have a big season.
And with the France international already off the mark for the new campaign it bodes well for the months ahead.
Man Utd debutants look good
Eyebrows were raised when Manchester United spent a combined £130million to bring Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire to Old Trafford.
But both players enjoyed stellar debuts as Chelsea were put to the sword.
Wan-Bissaka was especially good, tormenting Chelsea when going forward and managing to nullify the threat of their attacking players at the back.
Maguire was spectacular as well and barely gave Tammy Abraham a sniff.
Tammy Abraham may struggle
It would be unfair to judge Abraham after just one match in a Chelsea shirt.
But the young striker struggled at United, hitting the woodwork but failing to impress throughout the contest.
Abraham has the potential to be a Chelsea hit but, on this evidence, it looks like a huge ask.
The Blues have no choice but to persevere with their young marksman and it remains to be seen if Lampard can get him firing.
